HMY Britannia 1954559 viewsLesley Cole
Following sea trials, Britannia undertook her first Royal duties in April 1954. Members of the Royal family were given tours of the Yacht and crowds gathered along the sea front at Portsmouth to see her.
Prince Charles and Princess Anne boarded at Portsmouth before travelling to Tobruk to be reunited with their parents. The final stages of Her Majesty's Commonwealth tour were then completed on Britannia, with visits to Malta and Gibraltar.Prefect
