Mr Bob Dickerson 1928-2020371 viewsKeith Dickerson writes..."It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Robert (Bob) Dickerson, Art Teacher and later Head of the Art Department at Tal Handaq from 1958-1968, passed away at the age of 92 on 19 December 2020.
Bob returned to the UK on 4 July 2018 after living in Malta, Cyprus, Sardinia and Rome with his 2nd wife Brenda for over 40 years. He moved into sheltered accommodation in Ipswich in August 2018 and continued painting until the end of his life. He moved into a nursing home in October 2020 where unfortunately he caught COVID-19.

I have created a dropbox folder containing over 100 photos of Bob taken during his life HERE

Best wishes, Keith Dickerson"

Eagle Aviation Dakota - Blackbushe to Luqa3239 views1956

"The plane took off from Blackbushe and climbed to 10,000 feet which was its cruising height, but the flight to Nice was terrible, there were storms all the way, and apart from flying upside down the aeroplane was being buffeted all the way. Flying at 10,000 feet meant that if you hit an air pocket, the aircraft would drop almost 2,000 feet. The poor flight attendant Miss Bolton went through the aircraft picking up sick bags, the only person not sick was Kelvin, the only one on the aircraft able to eat his inflight meal and drink his tea, he even sucked on a sweet for landing so that his ears would not be painful. Then the aircraft made a perfect landing at Nice and all the passengers got off. Kelvin bless his cotton socks called 'Bboobb' at the top of the landing steps, and like a good boy he covered every step in inflight meal, crisps, cup of tea and the sweet. The French ground crew were not happy and said so."

Congrats to Gillian and Trevor Ricketts. Fifty-five years of wedded bliss.480 viewsGillian writes - Today (3rd July) we are celebrating our EMERALD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY (55 years - I know!!!). Fortunately for Trev I am not a fan of expensive jewellery and I couldn't think of anything of anything green to give him so we have decided that, when Covid 19 departs (and it will), we will take a celebratory trip to the Emerald Isle!! It is strange that, having travelled a lot in our lifetimes, we have never been to Ireland. That will be something to look forward to. In the meantime we will celebrate the day with something alcoholic shared with good friends. Happy anniversary, darling Trev xxxxx Martin PowellJul 05, 2020

On this day - Jane Arbuthnot - Harrods bomb 1983469 viewsThanks to Vic Weekes for reminding us of the tragic loss of Jane Arbuthnot with whom he also served in the Metropolitan Police. Jane was taken bravely doing her duty at a call where they knew the code-word had been given and the danger was real and imminent. Each year on the 17th December a small remembrance service is held at the spot.

From the archives - 50 years on.558 viewsThe name of the school was changed from RNS TH to SCS TH in 1969 (Service Children's School), though it continued to be administered by the Royal Navy. All other service schools in Malta then came under the remit of the RN, Captain HC Malkin (Headmaster 1966 - 1970) being appointed the first OiC Service Schools, Malta & Naples.
