05/22/13 at 23:32Information from John Pace indicates that the anchors were part of the equipment used for tuna fishing by the method known as It-Tunnara. Up to 1961 the nets were deployed in Mellieha Bay and elsewhere and, for a period from 1907, Anchor Bay was used for storage out of season.
