Biography/Interests/Remarks Highlight of my time at Tal Handaq was the expedition up the slopes and to the summit of the still active Mt Etna in Sicily with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme in 1966.
Saw that same volcano flying in to Luqa airport just a few weeks ago on my return to Malta (from Australia) after a forty four year absence.
Apart from a brief stay in Luqa village we lived near Balluta Bay and caught the bus to school in a street just off what used to be called Depiro St. The whole block of adjacent units were, as I recall, managed by the Admiralty.
