HMS Tiger & Lion in Grand Harbour -24 August 1961

Tiger steaming past her sister ship. According to my records this is the first occasion since the "Tiger" class Cruisers were launched that the two of them are seen together in the Med. Date please??

Tiger became Med Flagship in late 1959, and left in October 1960 for refit in Devonport. Lion was commissioned in July 1960 so that narrows it down a bit. They first met in Devonport on 11 March 1961. Lion left on 14 April and was in the Med till October. All we need now is the date of Tiger's return to Malta in the summer of 1961! There is a pic on the web of them both in Leros (Greece) but no date given..... We are getting there. Tiger arrived Marsaxlokk anchorage 20 August 1961..... Got it - 24 August 1961. Thanks to "Stevo" on Ships Nostalgia. I'm now feeling a little anorakish!
