Triton Fountain 2180 viewsFor those who are unaware of the livecam on the roof of The Phoenicia I have been trying unsuccessfully to include a link here, but if you Google "Live Cam Floriana - The Triton Fountain" you will find it. There are other views, too - Tigne, St George's Square, Grand harbour etc.Ivan

Triton Fountain 1158 viewsNot quite sure which album to put this in, but Then and Now seems appropriate as we are all no doubt familiar with how the area around the fountain used to look, and here it is now. The shot is a screen grab from the livecam mounted on top of The Phoenicia. What an improvement! And with a new twist on the selfie, that's my wife and I sitting on the low wall, bottom right. Ivan

More dinghy racing, circa 1965198 viewsSwordfish from Garrison Club in Marsamxett. Sail no.174 in centre.
Navy dentist Jerry Gardner (RN Tower Road clinic) sailed 175 (actually a Navy boat from St Angelo) and lavished much attention on her with gleaming mirror finish. He kept her at MGSC and constantly beat the Pongos. In retaliation he was disqualified for not wearing the correct "15" mark on the sail. Sour grapes or what !admin

Garrison club dinghies in Marsamxett. Postcard206 viewsPre 1980 when the Carmelite dome came to dominate the skyline. (Probably Swordfishes pre 1968 when the club bought Pegasus dinghies. Club closed in 1978 of course).
Sails have been coloured in, they were white. Some cards show them as white but are less clear.admin

Malta National Archives Memory Project494 viewsI work at the National Archives of Malta, on the Memorja (National Memory) project. I am conducting oral history interviews with British ex-servicemen/women and their families, who came to Malta after WWII. I was directed towards this fantastic website, and wondered if there was anybody who would like to speak to me about their experiences of being in Malta. By after WWII I mean any decade really! It would be great to have a variety of different decades if possible.
For people who are interested my email address is sandra.blake@gov.mt. I would be happy to provide additional information on the project and be very grateful for any assistance you are able to give.
Thank you and kind regards,
Sandra Blake

Air Spies of Malta426 viewsRipping yarn set in the 40s in a school rather like Verdala. In fact a Verdala with public school boarders. Think of Biggles, Famous Five, Jennings and Boys' Own all rolled together and set in Malta.
Who was Peter Jackson? He must have known Verdala (it wasn't Peter Prictoe, I asked him).
A search on www.bookfinder.com reveals plenty of copies available. (Thanks to Chris Barber for that info). Also on ebay from time to time. Much cheaper without a dustjacket.admin

Things are looking UP !!837 viewsThe building of the huge 38-storey tower proposed by the Gasan Group is set to have a dramatic impact on views enjoyed by pedestrians strolling along Ghar id-Dud, the Sliema promenade, apart from breaking the skyline when viewed from as far away as Rinella Bay in Kalkara.
