Tal-Ħandaq Nostalgia

Memories of the Royal Naval School, Malta, 1947 - 1978.

Aerial view mid-60s

Compare with the layout plan HERE

The corrugated-roofs were Romney huts (not Nissen huts except no.3 on the coloured plan, bottom left, which was).

Two very interesting illustrations, thank you! On the adjacent plan 3 was indeed the Careers Room in 1965/66 but it was also the Lower Sixth Common Room, designated "3T" (the Romney-roofed building at the lower boundary, just left of centre in this photo). 2 was the Upper Sixth Common Room. I resided in both, wasting too much time in pretentious debates with colleagues, and sunbathing on the flat roof to the rear of 2.

Thank you Ivan. By the time I got to the 6th (1968) numbers were down and everyone was in 2. By 1970 the U5th had been lumped in with the 6th for the same reason, the requirement for 5 O levels being discarded. Senior Prefects just on repeat O levels, shocking.
