Looking pretty sad and neglected now that there's a new entrance - I believe?!

Yes if you were "Navy".

Yes Liz - the new drive sweeps round to the left (looking down the old drive) and into the playground having breached through the old walls (pity). Have you put that new aerial shot on Verdala.com you showed me? Thought that showed the new drive.

Ah yes, the one on the Home Page? But the layout of the new road's not very clear.

Probably by 1971 the system had changed as the Navy ran down and the RAF was overmanned as usual! At one time there was an RAF primary at Luqa.

Looks like they have had a tidy up, think it had been used as a tip last time I was there.

There was also an infants' school at Safi at one point. As for tipping - it's everywhere you go in the countryside now. (And in the UK I admit).

Price of the good old EU waste regulations no doubt.

From the other side "Verdala Entrance" indeed. But from this side, the escape route! Down the ramp and through the gate, the buses bridled and the race was on! Blue waters, sand and rocky adventures beckoned.
