Nice one, lived in the flats in the far left of the picture, now the hotel. When was it taken? looks early 60's

I think it was 1973 Phill. As you have mentioned, those flats must have annoyed the occupants of the quarters behind them!

What wonderful looking barracks they were.

How wonderful to see this pic, I lived in the flats, one of the ones on the left I think and on the top level but can't remember which one. What an amazing view we had, I remember watching the Red Arrows fly at eye level up the creek!! So different there now but I am talking about 42 years ago!

A very evocative picture. We lived in the block to the left of the boathouse (shows as black square). Sleeping on the balcony in a hammock listening to the sounds across the bay....

I wonder why the flats could not have been converted into holiday flats? I think to the top left of the parade ground (as you look from the school) there was an old fort, with moat and drawbridge that Dad worked in sometimes; I think they pulled it all down to make a car park for a casino or something.

Before the whole area was redeveloped the quarters flats were used as social housing and accommodation for Chinese drydock builders. Presume you are referring to Cambridge Battery. It became a hotel lido and now restored, its still there, though surrounded by skyscrapers.
