Behind, the building to the right is Whitehall Mansions, the home for WRNS serving in Malta more anon and now I think the British Embassy. HMS forth was just one of the many RN ships filling most of the creeks of Grand and Marsamxett Harbours. Communication was still widely carried out by flags, semaphore or aldis lamp requiring in some instance the use of binoculars. Communicators serving on HMS Forth were strictly instructed that binoculars must NOT be turned in the direction of Whitehall Mansions an instruction no doubt ignored by most Im sure!
