Does anyone know what caused the fire that damaged one of our favouite blocks?! What happened to our shutters, and I wonder how many class and staff photos were taken in this corner?!

For the shutters see Les Hutton's 1944/5 pic. Most probably the same ones.

Yes, they were still there when I took the picture of the playground, climbing nets and, yes, the palm tree that's in the 50s section of the Verdala.com New Style Gallery. (Admin., if you think we're taking up too much of your site just tell us to go and play somewhere else!)

OB, seem to recall someone said the fire was caused by vandals.

Thanks Phill. Bloomin' vandals! I'll check with Brother Martin (no, not you baggypants, one of the current teachers) when we're next in touch. ( Thanks admin., glad to see you keep a healthy respect for the older and ?? wiser! ...... (Later) Yes, Brother Martin confirms that after the Liceo left the site for the rebuilding vandals got in, stole the science equipment left there and fired the chemistry lab. GGGRRRrrrrrr!
