The real Ghadira Bay

Now put it alongside the OS map (1950s) which clearly shows Ghadira as being this side, although doesn't call any bay by that name.

This side? I've only got the 1970 OS (thank you) which doesnt name the bay below Anchor Bay either. The Ghadira, (lake/marsh/pool) is certainly closer to the eastern coast, but doesnt necessarily name the bay. To me the deciding oracle is the Admiralty chart (2538) which in these politically correct times, names the large bay "Il Bajja tal-Mellieha" and I object to new signposts which call it anything else!

Eastern side. Your 1970s map is a reprint of the 50s one, just smaller scale - not updated. But v interesting to see the shot of the bay below Anchor as Ghadira - never seen that before. Isn't that what we called Slug Bay? How old is that map? Anyway what's in a name? A rose.....

Its a current tourist map published by Insight. Names are most important to map enthusiasts. I recall the name Slug Bay but cant remember where it was.
