Agreed it wasnt pretty, but it did provide useful facilities, being exempt from the smoking regulations and they did a pretty good cheesecake. Not to mention the distinctive underground toilets!

I still remember when it was just called The Umbrellas but the Magic Kiosk did a superb goldfish bowl of ice cream.

In 1947/52 it was called the Magic Kiosk and we used to buy a drink there called a sensation it was several different flavours and they never ran together in the glass. We were not supposed to buy any drink from there that was mixed with water which was considered unsafe to drink. But we did and survived
