Indeed! And that was at a time before ships were fitted with sewage treatment plants so everything went in the harbour! Perhaps that is why the event was later moved to St George's Bay.

And not before time, obviously!

You did'nt actually swim in Grand harbour, you just went through the motions.

I remember doing my Gold here in the depth of winter; I remember the pontoons being larger! There was a very high diving board here that we had to jump off in our pjs and make a floatation device out of the pj bottoms.
