The Dockyard School
In Prisons Street Senglea. Catering for both schoolchildren and apprentices, in 1928 under Lieut. GH Rickers there were 172 Brits, 56 Maltese and 44 of mixed parentage. They all moved to Verdala in 1929 though after WW2 the apprentices returned to the old prison.

Prison appears to be a common home for dockyard apprentices, if I recall correctly in Chatham the apprentices were housed in the old naval DQ's.
