I have some wonderful memories of Malta. I lived in Sliema and went to school at Verdarla. Thank you to the people who made such nice comments about my father Basil Cleaver who taught at Tal Handaq. My sister Maureen also went there.

I was at Tal Handaq Dec 63 to Dec 66 in forms 5B L6A and U6A, although it was so long ago I still have fond memories of the school, Tigne Beach, Barbeques at Golden Bay, and the youth club we started in a church crypt in Valletta. If anyone out there can remember these times please post. I was Head Boy & St Vincent house captain Sept 66 to Dec 66, I think Ken Laurence took over from me. I will be going to the 2013 reunion hopefully to some old friends 40 years on.

Great memories of Malta and both Luqa School and Tal Handaq. That would have been in 1953 when I was about 9. I remember the Queen's visit and parade on the square outisde the Vencia Hotel. Also the Duke Of Edinburgh visiting the school. Names I remember were Commander Bellamy, Mr Johnstone. Lovely girl called Jane Ashworth. Michael Ralph. Mick Little ( who I am still in touch with ) - Maureen Derrick. We lived at Notre Dame near Valletta.
Would like to hear from others from the period.

Re Mr Basil Cleaver.
A man who very easily helped form a boy's character: when refereeing a soccer match, it was not unknown for him to join in on one side or the other. As he had damaged knees & could not turn very quickly, I thought that I would be smart & 'nutmeg' him. As I passed him, he stuck out his foot & tripped me. The immortal words, "Don't mock the afflicted, Mr Satterley", have stayed with me! A lovely man.

one of my favourite teachers was Mr Cleaver, the Sports Master.During the War he was in the RAF serving with Coastal Command flying Ansons. After one particular sorte he crashed and was ejected through the canopy of his aircraft the jagged perspex sliceing away his face.He had numerous operations to rebuild his face, but if you looked closely you could see the scars in front of his ears.A very gallant gentleman. First went to Tal Handaq in April 1956,after we moved from Sliema to Mosta, because the water was drinkable in Mosta.Went to the school on the notorious 13A so many of you will remember that we were always kept behind at assembly for playing up on the bus whilst in transit to school.

Went to Malta in December 1956 and left in 1959. I was in Mary Ruddle's class, with Heather, Amanda, Denise. my main friends were Cris Tipping, and Dave Faulkner, we were all good mates, and it would be nice to get in contact with them.
I left Tal Handaq and joined the Royal navy, my first ship being part of the 8th destroyer squadron,we went back to Malta and whilst there I went to visit the old school. My wife and I have been back to Malta for holidays, and still love the place. If any of my old school friends are out there, get in touch, I know we are all pensioners now, but we are still young at heart. Mike Palmer

Prefect - you say "we used to dare each other to venture down Strait Street in search of something more exciting!" I recall it didn't take much daring. Our crowd would start at The Lantern (sad to see it now) with a pint of very expensive - 2/6d - imported Red Barrel. Then on to Strait Street. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Happy days...

I remember The Pit very well, being on the original management committee in 1965/66. When we took over the premises we had to knock down a good many internal walls. Hard work with sledge hammers! But we had some excellent gigs in there - remember the groups Count Five (young soldiers, I think) and The Helions (local Maltese boys, and my favourite group). Nigel Vaughan managed the Committee; anyone know his whereabouts?

Steve Mathews said that his parents ran a youth club (late 50s early 60s, I think for the school) in St Andrews Church of Scotland church hall (on the corner of South St and Old Bakery St.) Was there a back entrance on Strait Street I wonder? On Sundays we used the front door on Old Bakery!

That School Club was somewhere around the top end of Strait Street, Valerie. It closed around 1961 to be followed by others - Pembroke, The Pit and The Helix.

Hello Everyone,
So pleased to have found this site. I used to go to Tal-Handaq from September 1958 to May 1959.
I was in Mr Stanleys' class doing a commercial course, and we had Mr Tierney for English, and I think Mr Dickinson for Art/Craft and Italic writing. I used to go to the school club, which was in Valletta, but can't remember where. I have found one of my old school friends Sheila Weekes that was and I do see Freda Payne in one of the photos, nice to get in touch with her if she wants to. In my class there was Geraldine Knoller, Dawn Fear, Leslie Leathers and Heather Hollows. I can't remember anybody else. Went back in 1994 to see my old class room, and it had turned into a Night Watch Man's Hut!! They didn't speak much English so couldn't get much sense out of them.
Pure nostalgia. 'Bye for now Regards Valerie Easter. (That was)

Hi to all tal handak people who visit this site! I was at the school from 1957 to 1960 and my last form was 4AM. If you were there at the same time be pleased to hear from you. The school as we knew it was demolished in 2011 and a wonderful new college has replaced the old buildings. I visited the site by chance on the day the JCBs set to work. I lived in Floriana at Msida Bastion just down from the big fountain at the bus station. All for one Joe

Hi Donna
Saw your post - Thanks for getting back. I don't remember Karen Bruce, although the name sounds familiar. D block was the block nearest the gate and church. D block was next to C- I do remember a girl called Carol who used to live in C block. I've been back quite a few times, to Malta and Gozo. Last time we stayed in Valletta. I always make a point of going to the 'Second to None' bar in Sliema - it is on Tigne Street which leads down to the barracks.
Lucky you moving there - where will you live?
Good to hear from you.

Haydn

So happy, just viewed a picture of HMS Ausonia which my father Leonard Naylor served on. We lived in Malta from 62 - 64 at Gzira (too close to the smelly Manole Island sorry for the spelling). I attended the naval school at Vardela and still have my school reports lol. Such happy and special memories of time spent on a beautiful island. Many thanks for this site xx

Mannering, and form teacher was Mr Witherspoon.Friends I remember were the Ledingham brothers,Rodney(chops) Lamb, the Tonners,Flemings,Maureen Everett.Got on great with all the local Maids that worked on camp,
but not so well with the local lads!Anyone remember me bringing unexploded butterfly bomb that I found in Tal Handaq valley into class, and school being evacuated while bomb disposal blew it up in school field. Great days

Ilived in Tigne Barracks 1947-1952. 13A Block.
Went to Tal-handaq. Do you remember the Williams boys Billy and Freddie. The Rainers also lived there at that time. In fact I think Billy has registered with the Common Room. The Parkes Peter and Pat also lived in 13A Block.
Nice to hear that someone is still around from the old days in 36 Regt.

Your pictures sure brought about great memories of friends from the past from my days with the Overseas Rugby and Sports Club, names such as Trevor Rickets, John Hughes, James Glover, Jack Sharp, and others whose names I regrettfully have forgotten.

Thank you also for the equally great memories of how MALTA was the, when a PEPSI cost 3d.

GRAZZI GRAZZI U GRAZZI HAFNA
Thank You, Thank You, and Thanks alot

Best Regards from a still suny and warm MALTA

I am really sorry to inform all those who knew my brother, Colin Rule, that he died recently from a heart attack whilst out cycling in France. Age 63.

My endearing memory of Colin will be when he taught me to swim - by pushing me off the jetty at the Exiles in St Julians, and of going spear fishing at Armier.

Hi out there does anybody remember me. I've trawled through the last ten pages and not found anybody I knew. I was at Tal-Handaq from September 1967 to Jan 1969. I've been on the reunion web site and seen quite a few names of folks I remember. I found John Roddy. His brother David was a good mate, Martin Shaw, I tried to contact Martin in Australia with no luck. I also noticed the name Trevor Rickets was that the P.E. teacher with the blond hair. The person I would love to find out about is Mike Pellow. He was my best mate while I was on the Island, and of course anyone who knew me. I noticed a lady from the USA. would she have known Tony Tipton he was also a good mate while I was there. Thanks Dave Arnold.

I guess I must be among the oldest members of this site. I was in Malta in 1957-59. Went to Tal Handak 3CM and 4CM. Lived in St Pauls Bay and then moved into Tigne Barracks. Came back to the UK when the regiment shipped out. Great memories, loved Malta, shame it is changing so much.

Just discovered the website. Tal Handaq pupil from 1955 to 1959.

Amazed to find a group photo ref: File 17/172, which includes me Brian Lincoln - third from the left.

Went to a Tal Handaq reunion some years ago and met Brian Fuller. Hardly anyone else from my era. I'm in touch with Tony Mullen, now in Aus.

I have a few photos that I'd be happy to upload.

We all remember the beach (Kalafrana etc) but I also liked sitting fishing with Maltese fishermen off Senglea, Sea Cadets on St Angelo and the original Barrakka lift as well as Charley’s Bar in F’Gura. Great sport with Mr Ricketts and of course setting up Safi Youth Club; helping Steve Jones' with his great mural of Slade I seem to remember? I remember Mike Smith (we used to cruise Strait Street together as 13 year olds!), The Beers, Dave Philips, ‘Twink’ Nicholson, 'Haggis', Cathy Stephenson (evening at Upper Barrakka!) also Leli and Joey Balzan; we used to look after sheep together in Pawla bondu after school. The most inspiring and life changing years of my life! It would be great to hear from anyone who remembers me! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am 74 years old and I had a lot of English friends in the fifties.I used to live in Pawla at Kordin area, and I have been in the Scout Movement ever since. Giong though all those photos,I have seen one with a Sea Scout Patrol, where there is a certain Tony Clark. Is this person used to live in Cospicua Road, Pawla, near the Iron Duke bar?His family was very friendly with my aunt who lived a few doors away from them.Infact when the Clark family moved to UK in the mid fifties, my cousin Eileen Beasley, joined them and she has been living in Kent ever since.I have a photo of Tony`s sister with some of my cousins, taken in front of "Gort" house Pawla.I have spent hours lately going through all those photos especially the navy ships. I entered the H.M.Dockyard 1952 as an Engine Fitter apprentice and I had a friend named Peter Hoare or( Hoare-Meach).Any --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Marfa Palace Hotel in the 1947 album was operated as a hotel by my maternal grandfather 'George tal Marfa' Vella and grandmother, Carmen. My mother spent a lot of time there. I recall spending much of my life at Tini Beach, since school was only half day in the summer. From an athletics perspective, I ran cross country and was a high jumper. I do recall that when I returned to England, I had a considerable amount of catching up to do with regard to grade level. Fun days and great memories.

Comments: Holy moly...

Hi everyone. I was just looking around over the internet and came across this website and being myself an ex student at Tal Handaq I stayed looking.

My student years here were 1998-2003 but this website still made feel nostalgic as, from the photos, little has changed until my last year, but now I am sad to say that they brought some blocks down to make room for a modern, 1 block school. I can say that the 5 years I spent at Tal Handaq were the best years of all my student years.

I am proud to say I am an ex Tal Handaq student and honored to meet you guys. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The aircraft I was watching were taking off from right to left; I think there was a row of small trees, shrubs or something [a long time ago]. the classrooms seemed to be around a sandy play area was a square & where I played marbles. The windows appeared large, & I thought there was grass out this side, but I could be wrong; there was also a fence, at a guess 15 ft away from the classrooms. We also had school sports in the airort & I remember a teacher taking me to the toilet but we had to wai for a taxiing aircraft!! Just looked at that school report & it was spring 1958; my class was 3B. signed by class teacher GH Mortimer & headmaster that looks like Robert Cross

Apologies for rambling on, but this is the closest I have been in all these years. I cannot seem to find a map of the old RAF Luqa to see if I can recognise.

If you prefer I am taking up too much time; maybe you could offer me some suggestion

THANK YOU Caz --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments: Hello Chris, The only clue I can find to the location of Luqa Primary School is "The Scout HQ was two Nissan huts with a covered walkway joining them. This was walled in, so the whole complex resembled an ‘H’. The huts were covered in bitumen to try and waterproof them and it was a dismal place. It was alongside the Luqa Primary School, behind the Airmen’s barrack blocks with no access to any grassed area." There was also an Infants annexe at RAF Safi. In the Other Schools Album we have a photo of the Luqa School Football Team in the 1970s. I believe the former RAF Barracks are now used by the Armed Forces Malta so probably are not open to the public. Others may be able to pinpoint it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I use to look out the classroom window & gaze at the aircraft taking off [I was always getting in trouble for that] We lived in Corridino 1955-1958 Caz {Chris] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments: I arrived at Tal Handaq in about 1965/6 after spending a couple of years at Verdala, and I've found a photo of me on the Verdala website. How cool is that!

Does anyone remember Despina Stylianakis - how I remembered that name I have no idea.

I also remember Heather Edwards, she used to have Naafi dinners and I had horrid ham and picallili sandwiches carried in a yellow plastic lunchbox. yes in that heat. Put me off them for life. Heather used to meet up with me every lunchtime.

Such wonderful times which shape your life for ever. I've been back to Malta regularly every couple of years and it has changed almost beyond recognition in many parts. The biggest change is that I now get to dive to see the warships which are rusting under the sea around the island. Soooo sad. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Album numbers can be confusing as they keep changing as more are added.
Better to give the pid number if you can find it in the URL or File Information, (in this case - displayimage.php?pid=2836) or just the Title which can then be found by the Search button.

Not sure. It will still exist according to drawings, but this is all I can find on the subject - "The Ditch area underneath the entrance to City Gate, dug out of live rock as a defensive measure and which today is currently being used as an informal car park will include landscaping works for recreational purposes and an extension to the railway via duct that had been added in 1898 using masonry pilasters and beams. Access from the ditch to the railway viaduct will be restored by means of a staircase and a lift."

I WAS paying attention but the work set was not very well explained by the teacher. If you type war or wartime into search you don't get a thumbnail of Bill Rickard's BBC page like wot you do with the other two. So unless you happen to know he's hiding in the wartime archive you will be lucky to spot him. Even if you knew his name, as the search won't find him. So a similar link would be good.

To Sheila M - not sure exactly which crest it was that went astray, it was a shield or plaque of some sort, never identified. Wouldn't say Marc lost it exactly - it went missing during his absence on a training course.

To David Arnold and Sheila Macdonald - there is another Ta'Xbiex veteran on this site - Eric Hartley has put a couple of pics on (use search button and type his name). Another one, Anthony Clover, is a correspondent of mine but hasn't registered here yet. There are some stories by wartime pupils Paul Fuller and Margaret Staples - type BBC into the search button on the left-hand menu and follow the coloured links under their photos. When on that BBC site also search for Bill Rickard (thanks to Liz) (how about a link to that please, Prefect?). And Peter Prictoe was at Verdala in the 30s - see his memories at searchmalta dot com / ezine / pprictoe . All a bit complicated, but heck - no problem for TH pupils!

Yes Sheila, and regular coach trips normally to ancient monuments, armier bay, ghajn tuffeha and (always?) dingli heights. (Very few people owned cars back then). The party were always in good singing form en route, adult throats being well lubricated with blue label. Boxing day "Funny dress football match" was always a winner with many players stretchered off for rough treatment. You're so right, the regt was like a large family in those days. Children's Xmas parties were always fab.

Yes Sheila, they were happy days - before and after the siege and bombing. Bill was always good for a biscuit or cake in my infancy and a bottle of Blue Label in my teens (drank on the veranda of the Sgts Mess).
Did you ever go skating at Rocky Vale or spend long hours nursing a drink on the "Chalet"? Our gang played hockey on skates at Rocky, sometimes monopolising the courts all afternoon. In later years I preferred their evening dances.

Re the dapper four: Robin Bowes - alas no longer with us, Bob Satterley/ now McMillan, Eddie Reubens & Roger Wilkin.
There were other gigs at which we performed either as a quartet or trio.
On one occasion we were auditioned at BBC Radio Centre, but it came to naught.
On another occasion in Plymouth in 1961, Robin & I played as a duo!
If anyone has any photos, a copy/ scan of them would be much appreciated.

It is so lovely to see the photos of the school and see familiar faces in the photos, as I dont seem to have many photos from that time.

Thank you once again.

I stumbled upon this site and am fascinated to see the pictures. I was in Malta for about a year (1950/51) when my father (Lt Com John Blake) was navigating officer on HMS Liverpool. I well recall a party for the crew's children on board. It's also nice to see the pic of HMS Decoy, on which I served briefly at Plymouth when in the CCF at the King's School, Canterbury. A lasting memory of my time there is of Sleima Creek full of frigates and destroyers. I have several photos of HMS Liverpool in the Grand Harbour (including some of the party) if of use - though I'd have to scan them first.

Been looking at the photo's et al on this site and the odd memory has surfaced...though many of the names I remember are missing. I don't remember so much about being at Tal handaq, though I remember the beach of an afternoon and doing some high cliff diving from time to time - oh and the uniform. Fav teacher was Mr Alexander, the English teacher, and I do remember going on the cruise ships. Think I was there 67/68 ish.

Anyway a nice site and it took me back for a while. Nice to see it here. Thanks for looking after it.

Hi

I was at TH from Sep 1974 to Jul 1977 and absolutely loved my time there. My older sister, Katrina, was there too but only until July of 76. We lived at Mosta and got the no. 71 bus, I think, from the Tip Top on the main road through the town.

When the time came to return to the UK, I was really sad to leave the school that I enjoyed so very much. Life after that just wasn't the same. :-(

Names that I remember are Denise Paul (sister of Keith), Karen & Heather McKay, Richard 'Hedgehog' Howarth (and his siblings Kathryn, Michael? and James, I think), Dawn Ramsay, Joanne Hill, Jacquie Hall, Julie Stagg & Johanna Hills.

I was the quiet one - honest! ;-)

I have been filled with tears of joy remembering our times in Malta. We lived there on 3 different occassions. My first time was when I was 2 years old! When we went back I attended Verdala School and my later my brothers and sisters attended TalHandaq. I have looked through the photos but I cannot find us there! I have found my teacher's name though! My father was an officer in the Royal Navy based at Bighi & Mtarfa. His name was Arthur & my mother's name Beaulah. We lived in several places including Mtarfa, Kalkara & Birkirkara. My favourite special place in the world is still Mdina. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers us. Thank you so much. Susan :-)

Hi Peter - no I guessed you hadn't written it aged 12, just wondered if there was an author in your family. As for names, there were up to 1000 there at any one time (same at Verdala) and they tended to stay only three years, so not surprising you don't know them all. You can get the full list of those in touch from Viv Daly at tal-handaq.freeserve co uk (not published on the site). Next big reunion is 25 Sept 2010 at Bath - details from Viv coming soon.

Thanks for your comments. The picture size is not always a matter of my choice. The size limits I have chosen are 1024 x 1024 with a file size limit of 250 KB. This will produce a near full screen clear image. Limitations are necessary as space costs money and I fund this site from my pension!
Any photos posted by me are increased to as near these limits as possible whilst retaining acceptable quality. However many images submitted by members do not reach these standards often because the scanning from poor quality original prints just wasn't of sufficiently high resolution. Nevertheless they are welcome additions to our collective nostalgia. They are intended purely for viewing, not printing. Enjoy.
Further contributions of whatever quality will of course be welcome.

However I do think it is a great shame that you have chosen to display the many interesting pictures that you have here at such a small size. With many of the pictures shown at around 625x394 and the very largest at about 1024x800 it is impossible to appreciate them fully.

I first went to Malta in 1948 - I'm sure you all remember 1948 - and after a short while at Tal Handaq, Verdala was opened and I went there. I hated the school, the teachers and all the other kids but apart from that it was quite enjoyable.
Went back to Portsmouth, took the eleven plus and passed but as I hadn't made up my mind what I was going to do when/if I grew up I chose to go to the Portsmouth Technical School because I had cousins there. I hated the school, the teachers and the other kids but apart from that....Then in 1956 my Dad got posted back to Malta where I went to Tal Handaq and had a wonderful time. Left in 1959 and it's been pretty much downhill ever since. What about you?

I have just got back from Malta where myself, Jock, Phil Woodcock, and Chris Harrison (all same age) had a Cisk Reunion with a few others of different eras. We had a great a trip to the school with demolition imminent - a few souvenirs were obtained ! (With permission of course).

they managed to spell both your names wrongly in

There must be many interesting stories among former RN School pupils - perhaps not all as dramatic as that one! Your unusual childhoods produced an enterprising lot!

Sorry about the 'spots' instead of 'dots' in that last message - senior moments!!

Message for Paul Edmonds, Message 40.

Another ex-RN School pupil, also ex-Australian army in Vietnam, signed the Verdala.com guestbook on July 16th.

I've just tried to enter the website address for his story but unfortunately this site won't accept it!

You certainly sound to have made up for a rocky educational start!! Bully for you!

Hello Marian,
Sorry about the spelling but it was the Editor's
fault not mine!
Mr Battye is there, listed as the Form Teacher
of 3BG.
The 1963 mag should be up in a week or so ... must get on with the scanning.

I was at TH from 1961 to 1963. Have found my name misspelt as Fitzsimmons in the 1962 mag. I look forward to seeing the 1963 one when you put it on as I was more involved that year. I remember the fantastic Maths teacher Mr Batty (or Battie) but didnt see his name in the list of staff 1962 magazine. Great website. Thanks Marian

In answer to Steve’s enquiry, Paul Pond aka Paul Jones has retained a high profile long after his days with Manfred Man. He currently presents a show on BBC Radio 2 every Monday evening. He was born in Portsmouth and attended school at St John’s College, Southsea and I’m particularly interested to learn that he lived in Malta.

I was born 1949 and am not sure when I attended Tal Handaq but believe it could have been about 65,66 or 67. Did miserably academically . In 68 I emigrated to Australia and was called up for National Service. I served in the Australian Infantry in Vietnam with 7 RAR and 8 RAR. In my later years I decided to put my nose to the grindstone and obtained a Bachelor of Business(Accountancy) with a sub-major in law from the University of Western Sydney. I am currently living in Chile.

Nice website. I went to Tal Handaq between 1974 & 1976. My class Teacher was John Hughes and I did keep contact for a while. Some names I remember are Valarie Newman, Alan Bird, Sean ????????, Evonne ??????, Mary Church.

Emigrated to Australia in 1977 and joined the Army here in 1979 and retiring from it this year.

Greetings to all from down under..
I personally was in class 3C (I think.. green belt, 'St. Vincents' rings a bell) between 1966 and 1969 or so.. The family had 3 tours in Malta adn my two siblings would have spent more time in Verdala and TH than I did.. I'll try to get them to post as well.. they both have better memories then me.. People I remember; Gibbo, Ibbo (Ibbotson), Spider (singer in the band at the disco underground).. the incredibly popular girl with the floor length hair.. and the Maths teacher who made me stand at my desk ALL day trying to add 7 and 3... I fell asleep in his class - he woke me up by throwing the board duster at me.. I'm totally discalculic thanks to him! ;-D Ah happy days! The family has stacks of photos, I'll get approval from the other two and start uploading..

The photo of Micheal York in a relay race has the comment that he was known as 'Bomba'In my opinion that is incorrect. it was Peter Reynolds that was known as 'Bomba' It seems too much of a coincidence if there were two with the same nickname, I know because Peter was my boyfriend and I also knew Mike York well enough to know he was not 'Bomba' as well!!!

Yes, you are right, as TH Nostalgia is run on a shoestring, we cant afford the Stones and apart from the copyright problem, MP3 files take up a massive amount of space.
Of course viewers can help by clicking on the odd Google advert, but dont go mad.

Hello Honky-tonks. Ooh you are awful. Are you married? My boyfriend keeps asking to look at my midis but I don't let him.

I think you'd have to pay the Stones lots of ££ to use HTW, it's not quite 50 yrs old amazingly. Failing some badly-behaved women, you could settle for some well-behaved ones. Three Little Girls From School? (Mikado).

Try and get your hands on a copy of Suez 1956 by Barry Turner, it will confirm how right you were to use the word debacle.

Point taken Phill. I shouldnt allow my political views to intrude in the Gallery. I have no problem with the military conduct or the principle of intervention to defend the lifeline to what was left of our Empire but you would have thought the politicians would have found out what the US reaction was going to be before they did it!

I notice along with the picture of the Manxman comment is made regarding the Suez Debacle.
Having just struggled through a new book on the subject I am inclined to agree that it was a mess, though the book was certainly written with a leftish outlook.
However I think the most telling comment came from President Eisenhower some years later to the effect that he considered his greatest foreign policy error was that he did not support Britain and France when they went into Egypt.

Unfortunately, the first link only shows her in disguise, and the second has no shots of her in or around Malta which is the criterion for this site. We must search elswhere for Manxman at Malta.

HMS Manxman played a vital role in supplying Malta during the war.

In 1956 she was sent to Suez from Malta and was the first ship to enter the Canal after the debacle.

Starred in "Brown on Resolution" and "Single Handed", both shot at Malta.

See myweb.tiscali.co.uk/hmsmanxman . One link has Navy photos for Prefect to ask for at navyphotos.co.uk/index2.htm

Great picture of Sleima Creek, only thing missing is the old Manxman normally to be found on the Manoel side of the creek.
Lived in flat right up by Tigne Barracks overlooking the creek, great fun watching the ships attempting to tie up between the buoys.

To Mike Adams (and anyone else looking in for the first time): Prefect says you are from 1967-8 era. I confess I can't place you, but make sure you have registered with Viv Daly on the main school site (link on cover page) to ensure others can see you in the contacts list and to get an invite to the next reunion - pity you just missed one, they're usually every 3 years. Martin.
